Johanne Rahaman's photography examines and illuminates the dignity of rural and urban Black communities of the state of Florida. Most of her work centers on disenfranchised communities that mirror her hometown, the Laventille Hills in Trinidad. Through oral histories, she travels migratory paths of African Diaspora, from the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean to the state of Florida. This work features majorettes at the Martin Luther King Day Parade in Liberty City, Miami.
