Slbxpen, otherwise known as Shamar Betts, creates works that explore using different textures and vector artwork to create pieces that have a contrast between matte and gloss through illustration and graphic design. The biggest influences behind Betts's artwork are music and color. Ever since childhood, Shamar has always loved expressing herself through art by dancing and drawing. She now creates impactful works combining the experience of listening to music with color. Slbxpen is an artist that is hard of hearing which has led her to not take the sounds of the world for granted. She loves artwork that makes her feel connected to her senses and emotions and creates pieces that make viewers feel the same, especially others in the black community, as it's a community where Shamar feels everyone is continuously uplifting one another.
