Oval Orbit Series Jacarandas
Leslie Sardinias explores different paths that people can follow according to their circumstances, place of origin, destination chosen to arrive. The works of art are created in situ. These emerge closely linked to the place itself, influenced by historical and social contexts where the works of art come out, and as a way to inquire about local identity and its transformation from history to a contemporary view. His work points at chromatic modernism, symbolic abstraction, marine biology, flora, organic elements, and popular culture combining vast techniques and materials for artistic representation.
The Oval orbit series are works that mark a place in a specific time, in this case, oval orbit series is about the flowering of the Jacarandas in Mexico City during the spring of 2020, this is a very special moment in the city because everything converts into a lilac tint due to the coloring of the flowers that flood the City. The treatment of the works is abstract symbolic, trying to show an organic place where the universe represented transports the viewer to the atmosphere of the place in this case of Mexico City in spring.
