Color Portrait VI--Purple
Matthew Morocco's work is best known as psychological portraiture. His most recent project, Orchid, deals with color light and time to tell the story of how color and abstraction are useful tools in breaking down complex systems of viewership and selfhood. Cloaked in a full-body technicolor suit, Morrocco discovers and weaves together the world of art history and the landscape.
Color Portrait VI--Purple is a part of a years-long project called orchid, a project about what to do when public space is a dangerous place. orchid has been installed at Pioneer Works, Brooklyn, Hesse/Flatow, Fotografiska Museum, New York, NY, Port Authority Bus Terminal, New York, NY and has received grant support from the National Endowment of the Arts.
