Clock Work

Morel Doucet

Morel Doucet employs ceramics, illustrations, and prints to examine the realities of climate-gentrification, migration, and displacement within the Black diaspora communities. His work catalogs a powerful record of environmental decay at the intersection of economic inequity, the commodification of industry, personal labor, and race.

  • "Clock Work" examines the relationship between the dying of our environments (coral reefs systems) and skin color (Melanin) as a device for the passing of time. As the viewer's eyes move clockwise, the series examines tension of climate change, warming temperatures & solar irradiance in response to the bleaching of coral reefs found around the globe. — Morel Doucet
