Pedro Troncoso’s work consists of realistic acrylic portrait paintings of the witnesses of his childhood: his family. Pedro’s kindergarten days inspire his palette. In contrast, the squared formats of his paintings allude to the Post-its, where the chaotic schedules, things to do, and the strict complexity of Adulthood are written. Troncoso’s paintings represent the exploration and documentation of the war between his methodical and his spontaneous side. Usually, he collaborates with children and let them draw freely over his realistic portraits. Unlike adults, children are less affected by stereotypes and social norms, which is why he collaborates with them. Since they do not pretend to fit into what they are not, they do not have prejudices, they do not need acceptance, they are fearless, and they are just being themselves
The social norm disrupts our natural inclinations. Yet, art naturally exits out of the stereotypes and saves us from any commonplace.”
