ART PARK ARTISTS
The SHOWFIELDS Art Park provides opportunities for artists to create new works, site-specific to our stores. We encourage artists to use this as an opportunity to explore new ideas and evolve their creative practice.
The Art Park is an initiative that strives to bring artists together in an unconventional way while becoming an active participant in the SHOWFIELDS community.
Each SHOWFIELDS location hosts a variety of multidisciplinary artists throughout the year, below is what is on display now!
We hope that the Art Park will become a vibrant hub for artistic expression and experimentation, and we are excited to see what kind of submissions we receive from our talented community of artists.

VALERIE CARMET

VALERIE CARMET
Valerie Carmet is a French-American Pop Art assemblage artist and art educator based between Miami and NYC. She was born in France and moved to the United States in 1989 where she worked in the New York’s fashion scene. Her mathematical instincts and her skills led her to start her artistic path in 1995 with the creation of intricate mosaics.
In 1998, she honed her skills at the Anandamali Studio in New York City where she created several mosaic murals and picassiette furniture and in 2004, she graduated from The Mosaic Art School (Italy). She taught in several art programs of NYC public schools and in 2004 was selected to be part of the Children’s Museum of Art workshops.
In 2013, Valerie Carmet started her signature series the ToyBox Collection, composed of complex and meticulous sculptures made of recycled toys. What started with the abandoned toys of her children, is now a way for her to upcycled discarded toys. She sources some of her material by picking up lost plastic toys on the Miami beaches where she has been living since 2020.
“My goal for creating the art, is for anyone of any age, race, gender or socio-economic background to feel playful again. I want them to reflect on those happy, judgment-free, childhood feelings.”
In this ToyBoy collection, this piece called " Pride is Progress", in a limited edition of 10, is a flag that is the symbol of the diversity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community. It is a reminder that there is still work to be done in the fight for equality, but that we are making progress.

KIKI ARANITA

KIKI ARANITA
Kiki Aranita is a chef and fiber artist. These intersecting, simultaneous careers have allowed her to confront the nuances of her identity and cultures through cooking and rendering food into fiber sculpture, as seen with her installation “The Inconvenience Store.” As a chef, she works with a consciousness of low to no waste and she cooks most often with fresh fish. As a fiber artist, she brings this awareness of sustainability and taking care of our waterways into her practice.
90-95% of Aranita’s work is made from scrap yarn collected from her neighbors because she is as conscious of the environment as a fiber artist as she is in her culinary career. These works depict packaging, zeroing in and rendering more permanent the beauty that is discarded as soon as the package’s contents are consumed. These are the contents of the tuck shop of her dreams – sculptures of snack packages she encountered in her childhood and travels.

GUSTAVO OVIEDO

GUSTAVO OVIEDO
These works exemplify Gustavo Oviedo’s artistic concepts with large-scale paintings of organic forms straight from the depths of the ocean’s cosmic consciousness. Hours of navigating South Florida’s waterways breathe a sense of calm among the colorful shapes that populate this series. Painted forms interact with ease. Lines are texture. A fluorescent pop explosion against a contrasting sea of tranquility released onto canvas. The calm and steadfastness of an explorer, both at sea and in the studio, distilled with a painter’s brush in exquisite colors, offers a cathartic release from city life for us all. These paintings vivid and alive invite us into Gustavo’s worldly visions and they remind us of how much wonder there is in the world if we choose to explore it.
