Liz Nielsen's photograms presented are experimental, made without a camera and could also be described as light paintings or photograms. Using traditional methods in unconventional ways, her work is driven by a desire to push the boundaries of the photographic medium and add onto the discourse of photography. Nielsen's study of philosophy influences her work directly in that she is endlessly curious about the meaning of life and the dimensions of existence. Working with light is both tangible and ethereal. It has the incredible power to shape space, infuse emotion, and transcend time.
