For this online curation, I wanted the focus to be LGBTQ Artists who I discovered during lockdown or who I got to know better via the internet during lockdown. There is a diverse group of mediums and backgrounds included in this group from artists who are classically trained painters as well as outsider/self-taught Artists. In these “unprecedented times”, these artists refuse to accept the status quo and are working towards a more equitable and just future.
Art that is biographical is important to me. There are a lot of communities that have never been able to tell their stories because of their lack of access to education, materials, knowing “The right people” or because they do not easily fit into an existing narrative or category.
