Johanne Rahaman’s photography examines and illuminates the dignity of rural and urban Black communities of the State of Florida. Through oral histories they examine the imprint made by origin and assimilation on tradition, place, language, culture, food, religion and identity, via memory.

Exhibitions and Awards: Johanne Rahaman is a Trinidad born, Miami based artist. They have exhibited work across the USA, including solo and group shows in LA, NY, and Miami. Rahaman has been awarded numerous accolades including the Knight Arts Grant, Ellies Award and the Alternate ROOTS Grant.
