Explore the Exhibit: Le Jardin Des Arts
Beginning March 25th, SHOWFIELDS' visitors can immerse themselves into the artistic and womanly world of our latest exhibit: Le Jardins Des Arts.

Presented by SHOWFIELDS & French aperitif brand Lillet, the exhibit showcases an eclectic mix of multimedia art celebrating women and creativity through colors, optimism, vibrancy and textures, all with a modern global point of view. The gallery evokes creativity and strength with a refined, contemporary ambiance.

Visitors will walk into a colorful realm of empowerment as each wall in our curation features art by a selection of female artists. Le Jardin Des Arts will launch with works from Trish Anderson, Zhanna Tsytsyn, Patty Suau and Fernanda Uribe.

The design of the gallery structure itself - an empowering female figure - pays homage to the history of the building; the NYC Flagship used to be an animal hospital operated by New York Women’s League for Animals and subsequently a women's shelter.

Don't miss the chance to walk into our blend of fantasy visions of the future while immersing yourself into a timeless french ethos that explores female identity and craft. The world of Le Jardin Des Arts awaits you.

Behind The Rebrand: This is SHOWFIELDS’ Rebirth

SHOWFIELDS is excited to present its latest electrifying and captivating campaign—It’s stimulating, It’s authentic, It’s a Rebirth. Visitors can anticipate to dive into atmosphere that blurs the line between reality and fantasy while experiencing the transformative culture of 2022 with each step.

Get the inside scoop in this interview from our VP Creative Director, Samar Younes and discover why and how SHOWFIELDS’ new theme of renewed purpose and innovation manifests around the desire for living a more inspired, full, and layered life.

What does ‘Rebirth’ mean to you?

Rebirth is about new frontiers and innovation post a period of turmoil. It’s about re-thinking new systems, at the intersection of society, art, culture and health, giving birth to fresh ideas for a flourishing inclusive and thoughtful future.

How would you describe SHOWFIELDS current identity and what is the importance of this rebrand for current and prospective customers?

The rebranding, is more about a two year in-progress evolution of all Showfields brand’s codes, curatorial point-of-view and store design. We evolved our logo, we now have a much clearer defined point-of-view that is part fantasy and surreal, part digital & sci-fi, and part organic and hand-crafted now reflected across all our channels and manifesting through our digital and physical spaces. We are launching our seasonal curation Rebirth with a new store design reflecting our new aesthetic language in an energized retail concept setting intersecting shopping concepts, community programming and inspirational artistic experiences.

Since the “Rebirth” campaign focuses on new ideas, how does SHOWFIELDS plan on keeping the curations fresh and exciting?

Rebirth is about the perpetuity of new ideas, and keeping things fresh is curating purpose centric brands across exciting categories and juxtaposing them through placement and programming, giving birth to new ways both the customer and the brand get to experience them. It’s also about bringing in those other layers, be it tech or other industry to keep creating a new perspective.

SHOWFIELDS has always prioritized community, how does its rebranding plan on building on that theme?

The new store design is built with community in mind, which means, the spaces are hubs for interaction, sampling and experiences first, shopping second. The shopping experience is fluid as opposed to static, and it’s immersed in storytelling around purpose and all what the Rebirth Theme is about.

SHOWFIELDS has been a huge pillar in NYC for years, did you find any resistance in pursuing the new concept?

With new things, there is always a reluctance from existing partners and collaborators as is always the case when introducing something new and unfamiliar. But overall, this dissipates once the concept is shared and understood! Everyone is super excited about this new direction.

What is one thing you hope resonates with the community from the Rebirth Campaign?

What I hope the most is that people seek refuge and find themselves heard and seen in this newly designed and curated space. I hope they feel good, inspired and connected and recognize how we built the curation theme around the daily lives of individuals, from sunrise, to sunset to dawn, as a way to closely connect with the community’s rhythm, and not the other way around.

Does the Rebirth Campaign include even more immersive experiences? What can visitors expect?

Rebirth - yes it does! Mostly through architectural structures and a tighter thematic flow, across each floor. The first floor is about living, working and playing with day time rituals at sunrise, the second floor is about the art of self-care at home upon sunset, and the third floor is all about unleashing your alter ego, with the art of self-expression, upon dusk.

How does the Rebirth campaign plan on catering to all age groups?

We cater to all age groups by virtue of the curation approach and store design and not necessarily based on the particular curation, but we invite adults to be in touch with the child within and we invite kids to learn and discover in complete wonder.

2022 has already been filled with transformative culture— how does the campaign plan on capturing these changes?

The Rebirth Campaign is exactly about transformation, it’s about looking at things with fresh eyes, thinking outside the box with an innovative mindset and catering to the lives of customers in an evolved way as a result of the past 3 years as reflected in every aspect of this campaign.

What is your favorite take away from the Rebirth Campaign and what are you most excited to see come to life?

I’m most excited about the structure of our new Art Gallery “ Futura” coming to life, a personal passion project, designed as a triumphant large scale sculpture in the image of an empowering female figure representing creativity and strength. I drew from the building history of 11 bond St, being both the very first Women led Animal hospital in the city and a women’s shelter. Also the building has a long history with art, with Basquiat’s tags discovered on the building’s walls during the building renovation a few years back. Inside the sculpture, it is transformed into an art gallery, co-curated for the Rebirth Campaign with French aperitif brand Lillet, featuring groundbreaking multi-disciplinary women artists in several mediums. It is the ultimate representation of Rebirth and re-imagining the future of things outside of the status quo.

Getting Down and Toastyy with Brand Founder Jamie Lea

An essential part of Showfields curation of Rebirth is our CBD Lounge dedicated to the best of the best CBD brands. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Jamie Lea, founder of Toastyy, to hear about why CBD is so important as well as how Toastyy is incredibly unique and standing out from the rest! Check out the interview below:

What was your motivation in starting Toastyy?

JL: I have been a cannabis consumer since I was 17 years old. Being introduced to cannabis at a younger age helped my body in sports recovery tremendously. I have been playing volleyball since I was six or seven years old and once you hit Division 1 sports, it becomes somewhat like a ‘full time job’. I experienced much tendonitis in my knees, stress fractures, ankle reconstruction surgery and day to day wear and tear. CBD and cannabis have played a huge role in my speedy recovery process but also helped me to balance and manage school, work and day to day life stress and anxiety. It wasn’t until covid 19 came about that I got the extra push to dive further into my passions with CBD and cannabis. My anxiety, stress and insomnia was at an all-time high due to the life changes COVID brought along and the day to day social injustices 2020 presented.

I also wanted to create a community and safe space for women to openly use and discuss cannabis. Being a Toastyy babe is more than using the products, it's a way of life. How we carry ourselves, motivate one another, inspire and move. Setting trends and standing for what we believe in. There is also a huge lack of justice and representation in the cannabis industry and I am motivated to make a change.

What is unique about Toastyy CBD products?

JL: All of Toastyy’s products have a purpose and meaning behind them. They have all truly helped me in some way, shape or form. They make me feel and look good from the inside out, and I wanted to share that with other ladies. Toastyy does incorporate CBD into most products, however, CBD is an added benefit. I wanted to create a line of products that women can use day in and day out. Bettering their skin, health, anxiety, stress and more with a cherry on top (CBD is THAT cherry!) It is natural, plant-based and powerful.

Where do you source your products from?

JL: All hemp is sourced from the USA, specifically Oregon or Colorado. All ingredients and products are made in the USA.

Is there something you do that none of your competitors do?

JL: Like every industry, cbd can be seen as ‘over-saturated’. No other company is Toastyy and that's what makes us unique. At Toastyy we strive to provide quality, clean, and luxury products at affordable pricing for the masses. Most competitors charge you high pricing for their ‘brand’, however, not everyone can afford $90+ for a 1oz face oil. I want to make sure that no matter your job status, race or income, women all over can still have access to high quality products and ingredients.

How has CBD wellness changed in your opinion?

JL: During Covid, a lot of people started to care more and more about what they are ingesting and putting into and on their bodies. Take make up now, companies are restrategizing to make clean beauty products now, as if it were never not important.

As more and more education about CBD/cannabis is starting to come out, people are more open to trying them and realizing that this is a natural product that blends perfectly with their individual endocannabinoid system. I feel that I am finding more and more people resulting in natural, sustainable and plant-based solutions to help their wellness journeys. It has been so exciting to see!!

Why should people who have never tried your products, consider it?

JL: At Toastyy, I pride myself on being transparent. Transparent with ingredients, lab tests and more. I can’t tell you the countless times I have heard people try hemp seed oil from amazon at 3000mg and get disappointed because they felt nothing. Or on the flip side, they take something like cbd and have an awful experience but then later on they cannot go back to see what was in that particular product because the brand doesn't allow it. Being transparent allows people to see what is truly in their product and what they are putting into their bodies.

Toastyy is also a PROUD partner of the Last Prisoner Project and we love donating and giving back to causes that matter. Besides that, we are new and fresh on the scene, black owned, women owned, cruelty free, lab tested, locally made, USA made, vegan, non gmo, WBE certified and more! We also do our best to be continued educators on cbd from how to use, how to dose, what is it, answering questions, how to make recipes, how to be discrete and more. We are more than a brand, we are a community that's here to help other women feel and look their best!

What is Toastyy doing next that you are most excited about?

JL: Toastyy is quickly approaching their 1 year anniversary. To me that's a huge milestone! Being your own boss and starting from scratch, during a pandemic was hard and terrifying so we are so stoked to celebrate the small and big wins.

Toastyy is also switching it up a bit and focusing more on cbd beauty and self-care. I have been trying out some natural products that help with daily issues that I struggle with that come alongside Hashimoto's/thyroid disease and they have been making a huge difference in my life. Functional mushrooms & skin care for the win!

Women of Wonder x Mokibaby

In celebration of Women’s History Month, SHOWFIELDS wanted to take this moment in time to highlight the female founders and artists who are pushing the envelope with mission-based topics that resonate most with our community. We like to refer to them as our Women of Wonder or “WOW.” This week we will be sharing an interview with with artist Mokibaby.

Introducing Artist, Veronica Gessa otherwise known as Mokibaby

What motivated/inspired you to start creating, thus beginning your journey as an artist?

M: I started my creative journey in Magnet schools in Miami studying theater and graduated from New World School of the Arts. After that I really fell in love with nightlife and experiences through music and events. Working with III Points, I was given the opportunity to begin making my own art. Through my TV installations many doors opened for me with production, design and creative producing for brands in music, hospitality, fashion and film. My motivation has always been expressing myself and finding ways to make a career out of it. I want to bring people joyful and colorful experiences that they carry with them. I want them to be inspired.

As a female artist, what has been the most significant barrier in your career?

M: I don't believe in barriers. I believe in jumping and climbing over them and breaking them so we aren't categorized as just female artists. We are creative humans and we kick ass, period.

What was your inspiration for "Electric Reef" featured in Showfields Miami?

M: My partners at Media Pollution and I had so much fun creating this Reef. My inspiration was Miami and growing up next to the ocean. I always felt like a mermaid growing up and have always loved underwater life. I wanted to bring attention to the danger of beach plastics and the effects of pollution in our dying Reefs; I was so grateful to partner with The Coral Reef Alliance and the Coral Reef Restoration foundation to provide opportunities for visitors at Showfields to get involved and donate through QR codes on the screens.

What is your dream project?

M: My dream project is to one day do a fully immersive solo show at a gallery and create a journey for patrons to travel through different rooms that feature my work. That and directing and designing a short film :)

What role do you believe the artist has in society?

M: Art is the driving force of human connection and education through entertainment. Art surrounds us constantly and should be seen and valued as our most important resource. I think we need to invest more money back into art programs in schools. Creating art, music and dance is such a beautiful way to inject love back into the world.

What advice would you give to the next generation of female artists?

M: Don't take no for an answer. Visualize your dreams and don't stop until you get there.

Women of Wonder x Elaine R Defibaugh

In celebration of Women’s History Month, SHOWFIELDS wanted to take this moment in time to highlight the female founders and artists who are pushing the envelope with mission-based topics that resonate most with our community. We like to refer to them as our Women of Wonder or “WOW.” This week we will be sharing an interview with with artist Elaine R Defibaugh.

Introducing Artist, Elaine R Defibaugh

What motivated/inspired you to start creating, thus beginning your journey as an artist?

ED: I was motivated to create art work when I was 5 years old. I was born with a congenital heart disease. As a result, I was home from school a lot. Like any 5 year old ,ill or not, I would get bored. We had a big closet in our bedroom which I used as my studio. I would go in there for hours and experiment. One of my first experiments was putting paint on children's blocks. That was my first attempt at printmaking. This discovery was the foundation of my creative inspiration, which has driven me throughout my lifetime.

As a female artist, what has been the most significant barrier in your career?

ED: I would say that the most significant barrier in being a female artist is to be recognized in a world of art dominated by men. I don’t have a problem with men, however I do question their continued recognition & credibility before a female. This was especially true earlier on in my career. My paintings are abstract and influenced by the abstract expressionists. Female artists such as Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Elaine de Kooning & Grace Hartigan dealt with this throughout their lifetime. Artists such as Louise Bourgeois & Georgia O’Keeffe also struggled with this issue. However, they managed to break out of that mold and paved a way for artists such as Judy Chicago. On a silly note, being short doesn't help, especially when I like creating large works.

What was your inspiration for Mysterious Flow and/or "Don't Harvest Here" featured on Showfields' website?

ED: The pieces “Mysterious Flow” and “Don’t Harvest Here” were inspired by my interest in sea plants and the restoration of coral. I began working on the series “Coral on the Verge” in 2017. I started with visits to the Frost Museum of Science and began taking photographs of the display tanks. My work has always been inspired by nature in particular with shadows of fauna and foliage. These two works were the plants of the sea. They are elegant and possess an ethereal yet strong quality much like women do. To me these plants look as if they are holding their heads up high and facing any danger that may encounter during their lives in the sea. You will also notice that I evolved these photographs adding fluorescent markers to bring the sea plants to life and strengthen their identity. Funny answering this question reveals a deeper part of myself, my inspiration, necessity and desire to continue to challenge myself creatively.

What is your dream project?

ED: You may think this is silly, however my dream project has always been to create art live in front of an audience at Carnegie Hall. That has been my dream since I was a child. I love for my work to be seen and that’s why I continue to create installations such as the “Nite Dive” elevator that I was commissioned to do by Showfields in Miami.

What role do you believe the artist has in society?

ED: I feel that a visual artist needs to use the one thing that separates us from other creatives. That is how we convey our visual experiences creatively and transform it into a story/world that viewers can immerse themselves in. It’s important for artists to show as much about the world that touches them regardless of its beauty or ugliness.

What advice would you give to the next generation of female artists?

ED: My advice is do not accept the word NO. We are better than that. Keep on creating regardless of any obstacles that may come your way. Keep challenging yourselves and embrace your God given purpose in life.

Women of Wonder x Whind

In celebration of Women’s History Month, SHOWFIELDS wanted to take this moment in time to highlight the female founders and artists who are pushing the envelope with mission-based topics that resonate most with our community. We like to refer to them as our Women of Wonder or “WOW.” This week we will be sharing an interview with the Founder of Whind.

Introducing Hind Sebti, Founder of Whind

What motivated/inspired you to start your company, Whind?

HS: I have always been passionate about beauty and dedicated the last 20 years to building my career in the industry at the big beauty houses. I have always had an independent entrepreneurial streak - so it was never an "if'' but "when" I was going to jump and start my own brand. But I didn’t want to create a brand for the sake of creating one.So when I identified that gap in skincare that doesn’t compromise on either high performance or a superior sensorial experience, the seed of Whind was born. But beyond creating a range of skincare products that perform and delight, I also wanted to bring a new beauty point of view to the world: warm, worldly and welcoming. One born from my Moroccan origins and representative of a beautiful part of the world that I want to spotlight.

As a female leader, what has been the most significant barrier in your career?

HS: Not asking for what I wanted and waiting for others to realize how great I was and guess what I wanted. Naive, I know. But a bias for a lot of female leaders. Thankfully I learned that very quickly. First be great at what you are doing and deliver great results, then ask. The worst that can happen is you hear no. And if it’s a no, ask why, so you can work on it and ask again. We make our own luck.

What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

HS: Dream, have self belief, and have courage. Only those who dare to go too far can see how far they can go. The only barrier is the one that you accept. So never accept any. Replace why with why not.

If someone is new to your brand - what's the first thing you'd suggest they try?

HS: Medina Dew Melting Rose Water Cream: the dreamiest rose water gel that melts into the skin and gives instant weightless hydration for up to 72 hours, and transports you to a magical Moroccan rose garden.

What's a desert island product from your brand?

HS: Oasis Fresh Dissolving Jelly Cleanser. I love cleansing my skin, and this jelly-to-milk orange blossom cleanser deeply cleanses while also nourishing. Which is helpful if I am stranded without a moisturizer!

Women of Wonder x LaBruna Skincare

In celebration of Women’s History Month, SHOWFIELDS wanted to take this moment in time to highlight the female founders and artists who are pushing the envelope with mission-based topics that resonate most with our community. We like to refer to them as our Women of Wonder or “WOW.” This week we will be sharing an interview with the Founder of LaBruna Skincare.

Introducing Nina LaBruna, Founder of LaBruna Skincare

What motivated/inspired you to start your company, LaBruna Skincare?

NL: I’ve always been a very crafty person and have dabbled in all sorts of creative activities such as painting, jewelry making, knitting, and cooking. While an undergraduate student at NYU, I began studying nutrition and while I focused on consuming more nutrient-dense foods such as goji berries, chaga mushroom, moringa, gooseberries and more, I decided that I wanted to also supply my skin with the same phytonutrients. I had a difficult time finding reasonably priced superfood skincare, so I decided to make my own! I began sourcing high-density, nutrient-rich oils and powders such as sea buckthorn, goji berry, calendula, moringa to make my own serums and masks. I fell in love with my products, as did others and by senior year I launched LaBruna Skincare to share my products with the masses. LaBruna began as a hobby and as a way for me to apply my nutrition knowledge to my skin’s health. My goal is to provide healthy, phytonutrient-dense skincare to the public. I like to think of my skin as “food for the face, a way to nourish yourself from the outside in.”

As a female leader, what has been the most significant barrier in your career?

NL: Overall, I think it’s a wonderful time to be a female leader! I have felt so much support and encouragement from the public. Our generation is striving for societal change and working to break down systemic barriers to produce a more equitable future. Although being a female entrepreneur and leader during this time has felt very empowering, there still have been instances in my career where I feel systemic sexism come through. I have had multiple conversations with men who belittle my work, provide unwarranted advice, and loudly speak over me in an attempt to depict their prowess, skill and confidence. Although these conversations could discourage and sadden me, I usually find humor in it and turn the remarks and advice back on them. Most of the time, they do not know how to apply their own information and advice to their careers, and it affirms my suspicions about their character. There will always be people of all genders who feel threatened by a person in a leadership position, however this power dynamic seems to be most common between men and women. Although gender power struggles still exist, we are on a positive trajectory forward and most men in my life have been highly supportive and encouraging of my career aspirations.

What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

NL: I believe it is important to have a strong network of both women and men to confide in and seek advice from, however my female network is much smaller, and I know far fewer female entrepreneurs. I have found that since the female network is tighter, we feel more of a responsibility to see our peers succeed and grow. The few women I know have made such a beautiful effort to support and help my business flourish. I am constantly trying to meet more fellow female entrepreneurs and expand my network. My biggest piece of advice to the next generation of female leaders is to build a network of women you trust. You will all help each other succeed and strive!

If someone is new to your brand - what's the first thing you'd suggest they try?

NL: Our Nourishing Face Oil is our best-selling product and provides a smooth, glossy finish to the skin. Its ingredient content is so luxurious and unique. It’s a wonderful addition to everyone’s skincare routine and provides your skin with the extra nutrients, vitamins, and essential fats to take it to the next level of health and appearance.

What's a desert island product from your brand?

NL: My Anytime Créme! It provides the perfect level of hydration and is the staple product I couldn’t live without.
