What initially motivated you to launch WATSKIN?
Necessity is the mother of invention. After a squamous cell was discovered over my lip, I was told I had to stay out of the sun. I could not find anything out there that had sun protective benefits but did not compromise on style, so, I decided to create a line of clothing that I could wear under the sun, safely, that was chic. It had to be stylish and sophisticated but be a force field of protection. And, I wanted to be able to wear it in and out of the water. I had a friend that is a tailor make these pieces a reality. And That's WATSKIN! Now, I get stopped every minute on the street with people begging to buy the pieces right off of me.
What is the KEY item everyone needs from your brand?
The Lola Bodysuit is truly what we believe to be the best transitional piece out there that can be worn in and out of the water, to lunch, the beach, and the office! You can pair this with our palazzo pants for a day on the town or yoga, with our tennis skirt for a day at the court, or you can wear this alone for paddle boarding, snorkeling, gymnastics, with jeans for dinner, or by the beach.. you name it.
What is your superpower?
I am a great juggler.... as in multitasking! I always say give a task to a busy person and watch them get it done!
When designing your collections, where do you draw inspiration from?
As someone who has always loved fashion for all my life, I draw inspiration from designers that I love, my personal style and those around me. A lot of our prints and colors, are definitely inspired by our environment and the natural world that our active lifestyle customer lives within.
Are there any new products you are super excited about (or any new updates from your brand you want to share)?
We have many new and exciting designs coming down the pike! One that I will share is a beautiful bikini bottom to wear with our fabulous Sasha T-shirt!
Thinking back to when you started WATSKIN, what do you wish you knew that would have made launching easier?
Our launch was actually pretty seamless. I don't think I would have changed anything. I might have included a few extra styles for people to choose from. But, we're getting to those now, so I think we're exactly where we need to be!
